It’s that time of year when your inboxes are bursting with all of the holiday sales and promotions. The question is, do you have a plan for your business this holiday? Small businesses are a necessity for many, so keep your business at the top mind for your past AND potential future clients. If you haven’t already, we highly encourage you to plan your promotions, sales, or offerings and get creative!
Have a well-thought-out plan so you can execute your promotions - plan out your communication strategy, when to announce, what graphics to use, etc. - to tackle this holiday season with confidence and grace. Remember to stay true to your branding!
Send out a postcard/mailer and post to social EARLY (as in soon) about what your sales/offerings/promos will be. Help your clients plan ahead and don’t forget about your email list.
Encourage your friends, clients, family members, followers, etc. to SHARE about you - as you know, word of mouth and referrals are the greatest gift we can get as small business owners and for your guests sharing - it's FREE & EASY!
These tips may sound great, but what if you don’t know what to promote or don’t want to/can’t offer a discount this year?
We’ve been in the same boat of not wanting to discount our services. While it’s important to stand true to your value, we have to remember that the economy is changing now. It is not the same as it was a few years ago and as CEOs and business owners, we have to take those types of things that are out of our control into account when planning for the future of our business. In this economy, people are craving value more than ever. We cannot run our business today with a mindset from years ago. We have to make decisions, be flexible, and open-minded based on the economy and behavior patterns today.
So…get creative! You can add things into your services rather than taking down your price point. Let’s say you’re a photographer and you’re hosting holiday mini-sessions. Go to your local TJ Max or Marshalls and pick up some of those pretty sparkly frames to advertise your mini-sessions. Give one to each of your clients so they have somewhere to display their new holiday family photos. Adding value in unexpected ways is so fun and unique for your clients but also cost-effective and beneficial for your business. There are plenty of ways to add value without discounting services in a large way. If you need ideas, message us on Instagram or send us an email telling us what type of business you have and we’d love to help you brainstorm.
Another great option this holiday season is to offer a giveaway! You may be thinking: can a giveaway help grow my business? It sure can!
Here are some tips to think about when implementing a giveaway:
+ Give away something of value - push yourself a bit to give something that will really be appealing to your dream clients.
+ Post about your giveaway more than once and in multiple places (Facebook, IG, etc.). Ask friends or cheerleader clients (the ones who love to share about you!) to repost it for you.
+ Like or comment back to those who enter - don’t post and ghost!
+ Don't forget about those who didn't win! Message them and offer a small percentage off of your services. This shows that you noticed them and will hopefully pull them in as a client or customer.
Plan ahead and push through this busy holiday season that is full of potential growth. Finish this year strong as you set yourself up for a bright and wonderful new year! We’ll be here cheering you on!
